HIGHLIGHTS:

Africa: Morocco – Tarfaya Offshore Block

• Acquisition of the 670 km2 3D seismic survey over the Company’s primary prospects Trident, TMA, and Assaka within the Tarfaya Block, offshore Morocco has been completed.
• The seismic acquisition came in on schedule and on budget and exceeds the 500 km2 requirement of the Tarfaya Phase 1 work programme. Tenders will go out for processing the seismic in the first quarter of 2012.
• The three primary prospects have been assessed by independent global petroleum consultant Netherland Sewell and Associates Inc (NSAI) to have combined unrisked best estimate prospective resources of 758 million barrels of oil with a high side case of 4,210 million barrels of oil.
• NSAI have prepared a Competent Person’s Report on initial prospects identified within Tarfaya in preparation for admission to the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in the first Quarter of 2012.
• Seismic interpretation of multiple leads within the shallower Lower Cretaceous intervals is ongoing and once completed and prospects confirmed an independent resource estimate will be prepared.
• The Tertiary and Triassic age sections will be evaluated following completion of the Lower Cretaceous programme.
• There is work ongoing to seek partners to promote the future Tarfaya exploration programme.
• An extensive field trip was made of the Tarfaya coast and the High and Middle Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Samples were collected of Tarfayaequivalent reservoir and source units ranging in age from Paleozoic to Cretaceous. These will be analysed for reservoir properties and source rock quality and thermal maturity.

Australia: WA-442-P and NT/P81 Exploration Permits (Turtle and Barnett)

• In further preparation for the AIM admission, ISIS have prepared a Competent Person’s Report for the Nova prospect located in the WA-442-P and NT/P81 Exploration Permits, offshore Northern Australia.
• The ISIS evaluation included time and depth mapping of all available seismic data and petrophysical analysis of well logs which resulted in a mean estimate of undiscovered, unrisked gas initially in place of 6.93 trillion cubic feet of gas and an unrisked prospective gas resource of 3.46 trillion cubic feet of gas.
• Mapping of the deep Milligans oil play is ongoing as multiple structural/stratigraphic leads have been identified.
• The Messner lead is being matured to prospect status.
• ISIS is in the process of finalizing a farm-out document for WA-442-P and NT/P81 in an effort to expedite the WA-442-P and NT/P81 exploration programmes, specifically the Nova prospect and Milligans and Messner leads, as well as the future Turtle Barnett oil development programme.

The December Quarter proved a frustrating one for Norwest, with ongoing environmental review by the Western Australian Minister for Environment and EPA hindering the next phase of assessment of the Arrowsmith-2 shale gas well. The Arrowsmith-2 well was drilled in June 2011 on the EP413 permit to assess the shale gas potential of the northern Perth Basin. As this well is considered an evaluation well for a potentially significant gas discovery, a great deal of effort and expertise has been applied to determine the best possible picture of what this field could hold. Norwest has accumulated a comprehensive dataset of results, and these results suggests that Arrowsmit-2 well (and surrounds) contains all the necessary shale gas indicators across each of the target formations in the well (Kockatea Shale, Carynginia Formation, Irwin River Coal Measures, High Cliff Sandstone) – Norwest now just needs the opportunity to run the hydraulic fracture stimulation and associated well test program to complete the evaluation process.

The RAIs were issued ahead of NRC’s schedule and were significantly less in number than have typically been expected. Peninsula believes this was due to the comprehensive nature of the original application submitted by Strata. The Strata permitting team has anticipated the content of most RAIs and have already commenced the work necessary to lodge detailed responses within a shortened time frame.
