The Board of Riversdale Mining (ASX: RIV) has appointed Mr Tony Redman as a Non Executive Director of the Company on 27 May 2009.
Mr Redman has recently retired from Anglo American where he held the position of Group Technical Director. During his more than 37 years with Anglo American, he was involved in copper, gold and coal operations.
Mr Redman was appointed as Managing Director of Anglo’s coal division in 1996 and remained as CEO/Chairman of Anglo Coal until his appointment as Technical Director of Anglo American PLC in 2005. He retired from Anglo in January 2009. Mr Niall Lenahan has resigned from the Board as a Finance Director and will continue to act as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.
Commenting on the changes, Executive Chairman Mr Michael O’Keeffe said: “We are extremely pleased to have been able to attract someone with the calibre of Mr Redman and his technical skills will be a valuable addition to the Board. This is a further step in appointing additional independent, Non Executive Directors and restructuring the Riversdale Board, as foreshadowed at last year’s Annual General Meeting. The Board now comprises a majority of Non-Executive Directors.”
